NIRS: ACT NOW: Tell Your Reps to VOTE NO on the Nuclear Waste Policy Amendments Act!

Dear Friend,

A vote for H.R. 3053, the Nuclear Waste Policy Act of 2017, is a vote for high level nuclear waste shipments through your state and across the country for the next 30 to 40 years. It makes the waste problem worse and does nothing to improve storage technology or better isolate the waste.
The U.S. House of Representatives could vote on H.R. 3053 any day between now and when they leave (December 14th if the House sticks to its calendar). Please call and email your US Representative asking him or her to vote NO on this dangerous, misguided bill!
This bill invites thousands of shipments of deadly radioactive waste via truck, train, and barge through 44 states and the District of Columbia.
Call 202-225-3121 to be connected to your Representative’s office and ask if you can count on them to VOTE NO on H.R. 3053. Here is a sample script.
Let us know via this quick form how they plan to vote.
You can also use this link to see how many shipments HR 3053 could bring through your state and to get the phone numbers directly to the representatives’ Washington DC offices.
Please encourage your networks of friends, family, and colleagues to call.
We need to do all we can to prevent passage of the Nuclear Waste Policy Amendments Act of 2017 and decades of thousands of radioactive shipments through our neighborhoods and farmlands.
