ADVISORY – THURSDAY – DEP to Unveil Final Plan of Recommended Strategies to Increase Solar Energy in Pennsylvania
Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Secretary Patrick McDonnell will present Pennsylvania’s Solar Future, a plan of recommended strategies to increase solar energy development across the state, at a public meeting hosted by Messiah College on Thursday.
DEP and a statewide group of project partners identified 15 strategies to increase both grid-scale and distributed (e.g., rooftop installation) solar energy development, aiming for 10 percent of electricity generation by 2030.
They also identified benefits including reduced greenhouse gas emissions and associated public health challenges as well as the availability of new jobs and economic development opportunities across rural, urban, and suburban areas.
The meeting is open to the public. The morning and lunchtime presentations will be livestreamed. Registration is required for both.
