Nuclear Power: The Truth About A Taboo Subject and A Clean Energy Exposition

 Dear Friend of Green Energy,

PACE (People's Action for Clean Energy), Three Mile Island Alert, and Beyond Nuclear are asking you, and/or the organization with which you are affiliated, to join a list of endorsers who support the presentation of this critical and unique public health event on November 21, 2009.

Endorsement does not necessarily include financial support.  It simply means that you believe that the truth about nuclear power should be told to the public.

7:00 - 9:45 Program: a panel of experts and questions from the audience

This event, sponsored by PACE (pace-cleanenergy.org), has been constructed to expose

one of the most taboo subjects of our time –– nuclear energy.

A panel of experts will present facts about the ramifications of the nuclear power industry

including the inextricable link between domestic power and military weapons.  The panelists

are: the director of Three Mile Island Alert, Harrisburg, PA (tmia.com); and the staff of Beyond Nuclear, Takoma Park, MD(beyondnuclear.org).

Included in the presentation will be little known facts such as routine emissions of cancer-

causing isotopes onto the land and into the air and water (toxic discharges); unworkable

evacuation plans; reactor leaks; personal protective items like radiation monitors and thyroid

protection pills; impact on DNA; unprotected fuel rod storage; insufficient protection against

terrorism; inability to help climate change; unsolved waste problems; prohibitive costs placed

on taxpayers; extension of plants' licenses; de-bunking of the French nuclear industry; and

the dangers of uranium mining.

There will also be an exhibition concerning benign solutions to climate change including

environmental organizations and companies exhibiting solar, geothermal, and wind

technologies.  A special showing of a very realistic FX Channel film, Meltdown, will be

presented.

Vegetarian pizza, desserts, and non-alcoholic beverages will be for sale.
